Your Birthright: Love Yourself

Whenever we think of Love, the first thing that comes to our mind is Love for our significant other, child(ren), parents, family, friends, and sports. You can even feel "love" for (your) material goods—for example, a house, car, clothes, etc.

News Flash: That is pride or emotional attachment that we call Love.

Too often, we forget to mention the Love for oneself. It is sad how many people do not love themselves. Usually, they hate something about themselves, but why….?

Here are some reasons nr. #3 is the killer:

  1. We love to compare ourselves with others

  2. Advertisement. Only a specific shape or look in today's society is accepted.

  3. People around you tell you you are too fat, not intelligent enough, etc.

Believe me when I tell you it is not easy to change the thoughts about yourself. It is a big struggle. I am still battling negative thoughts about myself. You will start over and over again in the beginning. Keep practising, and you will learn to accept yourself for who you are, the way you are.

Once you accept and appreciate yourself, meaning every little part of yourself, you can love the people around you much more.

To overcome the negative thoughts about yourself that others told you, do the following:

  1.  Say goodbye to these thoughts.

  2.  Don't try to be a perfectionist.

  3.  Shift your focus on the effort that is required to reach your goals. It helps to appreciate your work.

  4. Stop calling yourself names like: "I am stupid". Nobody is stupid. Admit you made a mistake and learn from it. Forgive yourself. Another one: "I am a failure". Nobody is a failure. If you don't know how to do the something, ask for help or go on a course. Do not assume the worse in every situation. Stay positive.

Accept all your flaws and all your good qualities.

You will start your life on a new level and see the changes in your life, work, and friendships. The people who do not belong in your inner circle anymore will leave. No hard feelings and no tears. It will happen all very subtly.

Loving yourself is so very simple, yet so hard to accept!
