Dreams & Goals
Everybody has a dream. Some dreams are more significant than others. It would help if you planned to accomplish your objective, big or small. It's called goal setting. The key is how to set your goal. Visualising is an essential part of it. Here are seven specific targets to refresh your plan.
1. Make your goal specific.
Write down your goal. For example, Learn to play the guitar before age 45, or if you want to start your own business, write down the date and time you want to accomplish this. What your product is and how to do the marketing. Your goal must be specific. Make a drawing, if necessary. For example, I started my business in 2009. Yet, I wrote and made drawings of my goal 10 years earlier.
2. Make your goal measurable.
Make sure to distinguish your goal from a purpose. For example, if you say, "I want to have lots of money" or "I want 5000 clients when I start my business", that is a purpose. When you write down your goals, ensure you can measure them. For example: "I am going to advertise monthly to ensure that I get 50 new clients. That will increase my bank account".
3. Make your goal challenging and achievable.
It is not a goal if you set and achieve it in one hour. Remember, you will have failures before you finally succeed. Your failures will be your best teachers. Do not be afraid to act, and do not listen to negative people. Move on; never take the path of the least resistance. For example, I had heard for 13 years that I wasn't good enough to start my own business. However, once the relationship ended, my business grew.
4. Make sure that it is your goal and nobody else's.
Your goal, ensure it is your dream and not someone else's. The moment you visualise yourself in a new situation, a profound transformation takes place in your actions.
5. Your goals must reinforce each other.
You must ensure that all your goals have the same intent to reach your goals. I made monthly goal settings to ensure I would get my goal.
6. Our goal must include a plan to achieve it.
Ensure you have a road map showing your best route; things may happen, and you must detach. So, always have a plan B and C. Your goal should stay the same, but your plan must always be flexible. Looking at myself, I had to change my plan several times, as I lived in several different countries. My goal stayed the same, but my schedule changed several times.
7. Write it down.
I said this before: write everything down. It is essential during the process to see your dream come true. Please write it down every time you achieve another stepping stone or have to make changes. It will show how far you are from reaching it and what the next step must be. By writing this all down, you are writing your life story.
The seven targets mentioned above are meaningless if you do nothing. Try to do something specific on the list every week or month, depending on the action that brings you closer to your goal. Focus on it, and don't give up!
